Question no 9

Dear Student

9. C

The screw gauge is an instrument used for measuring accurately the diameter of a thin wire or the thickness of a sheet of metal. It consists of a U-shaped frame fitted with a screwed spindle which is attached to a thimble. Parallel to the axis of the thimble, a scale graduated in mm is engraved.

Vernier calliper is used to measure things that need additional accuracy as compared to a ruler. for example length/breadth of a cube/cuboid, radius of sphere. surprisingly you can even measure inner radius of certain things, vernier calipers is designed that way. moreover you cant conduct any experiment in physics without the use of vernier calipers since every phase of experimentation needs accurate measurements of length, breadth, depth, etc.

Meter scale is commonly used to measure lengths in everyday life. On a meter scale, the shortest lines measure millimeters and the long lines measure centimeters.
