Young Bengal Movement

  • It was launched by Henry Vivian Derozio during 1820s and 1830s.
  • He promoted radical thinking. He inspired students to think freely, promote equality and worship truth.
  • He was removed from Hindu College Calcutta in 1831.

Prarthana Samaj:

  • founded  by Dr. Atmaram Pandurang in 1867 in Bombay
  • though emenerged from the Brahmo Samaj, yet, it was much less radical
  • aimed at eradicating social evils of the society like caste, widow-remarriage, female education, and the abolition of child-marriage
