A cell is the structural and functional unit of life. It was discovered by Robert Hooke in 1665. Based on the no. of cells present, an organism could be unicellular or multicellular.

Unicellular: A single cell represents an organism. The entire organism is made up of a single cell. e.g. Amoeba is a unicellular organism.
Multicellular: More than one or many cells combine and coordinate to form a multicellular organism. e.g. humans, plants etc.
