Ramlal has been cultivating wheat crop after year in the same field. Recently he has observed decline in the yield despite best inputs. Agricultural inspector of the area suggested him to sow some legume crop(eg., pea, chick pea or soya bean) for one or two years before again using the field for wheat crop. What is the logic behind his suggestion?

Hi vyhnav, Liguminious plants converts atmosphere nitrogen in to nitrogen componts and mixes with soil. We all know very well that nitrogen is important for plant growth. Here the inspector told to plant leguminous plants to retain land fertility. The principal that legumious plants converts atmospheric nitrogen into nitrogen componts is used here. hope I helped you
