Ravi prepared a solution of sodium chloride by mixing 5.85 g of salt in 1 litre of water . Find concentration of the sodium chloride solution .

Concentration can be expressed in the form of molarity.
Mass of NaCl taken = 5.85 g

No. of moles of NaCl =
mass of solutemolar mass of solute  =  5.8558.5 = 0.1 mol

Now, molarity =
no. of moles of solutevolume of solution  =  0.1 mol1 L  = 0.1 mol/L

Therefore, the concentration of NaCl solution is 0.1 moles per litre or 0.1 molar (M).
