Represent root 2 on number line and write it's steps

Dear Student,

draw a number line.
take a point O and A on it.
points O and A represents the numbers 0 and 1 respectively.
draw 1cm perpendicular to the number line at A.
join OB
in right angled triangle OBA, we have
OB^2 = OA^2+BA^2
        = 1^2+1^2
        = 1+1
        = 2
OB^2 = 2
OB = square root of 2

taking O as Centre and radius root 2 draw an arch which intersect the number line at P.
therefore OP= root 2 units

Construction :

1.draw a number line. Mark the centre point as O.

2.consider a unit square OABC.

3.by pythagoras theorem that OB route 12 + 12 = √2

4. With O as a centre OB as radius draw an arc intersecting a number line P.

5. P correspond √2
