Rh incompatiblity occurs in first or second pregnancy

Dear student,
Rh incompatibility occurs in pregnant mother having Rh –ve blood group during subsequent pregnancy. During first pregnancy Rh antigen of foetus do not get exposed to the Rh –ve blood of mother as they are well separated by placenta. During 1st delivery there is possibility of maternal blood getting exposed to foetus blood and develops antibodies against Rh in blood. In next pregnancy Rh antibodies from mother (Rh-ve) can leak into foetus blood (Rh+ve) and destroy foetal RBCs.
