Roots may not always perform the function of anchorage and absorption . Give examples to Justify.

Roots may not always perform the function of anchorage and absorption as some of the roots get modified to store food, provide additional support and help in respiration.

For example,
1. Roots of plants like carrot, reddish get modified to store food.
2 Roots coming out from branches of banyan tree called prop roots provide it additional support.
3. Roots of Rhizophora come out of soil and grow upwards to help get oxygen for respiration. These roots are called pneumatophores.
