 Rub a glass rod with silk cloth and bring 

the rod near an inflated balloon. What do you 
observe? Give reason.

the balloon will get attracted ,as while rubbing the glass rod with silk cloth,the rod gets charged.And we know that a charge object attract an uncharged object.therfore they will show attraction.

When we rub glass rod with silk cloth and bring it near an inflated balloon then glass rod will acquire positive charge. Because transfer of electrons takes place from glass rod to silk cloth thereby leaving glass rod positively charged. ... That's why the glass rod can induce a net negative charge on inflated balloon.
