Vitamin B complex consists of eight B vitamins -B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9 and B12.
Vitamin B complex is required for growth, development and for performing other functions in our body. It is also required for turning food into energy in our body.
 
Both plant and animal are sources of Vitamin B complex. Cereals, grains and green leafy vegetables, fish, liver, dairy products and egg that we take in a balanced diet provide us B vitamins.
 
Their deficiency in our body causes poor growth of children, tiredness, hair loss, anemia, etc.

List of the vitamins along with their scientific names is given below:
 
  • Vitamin A -Retinol
  • Vitamin B1 - Thiamine.
  • Vitamin B2  Riboflavin.
  • Vitamin B: Nicotinic acid
  • ​​​​​​Vitamin B5 - Pantothenic acid
  • Vitamin B: Pyridoxine
  • Vitamin B: Biotin
  • Vitamin B9 : Folate
  • Vitamin B12 -Cynocobalamin .
  • Vitamin C - Ascorbic acid.
  • Vitamin D -Calciferol.
  • Vitamin E- Tocopherol.
  • Vitamin K- Phylloquinone.
     
 Folic acid is vitamin B9.   

Folate is the natural form of vitamin B9 in food, while folic acid is the synthetic form of vitamin B9.
