see the first line in the paragraph it's written that the changes occur in a much lesser time.
But, still the time is required for the changes to occur right? The moths' population was noticed in a span of 70 years, then why such less time for microbes?

Dear Student, The microbes have very less generation time than moths. Generation time refers to the doubling time of organism. Microbes have an exponential growth while moths require more time to increase their population. So, this takes less time for microbes. Regards
