"Selectable marker helps us to identify betwen the transformed and the non-transformed genes." What does transformed and non-transformed gene mean?

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

The correct terms are transformants or transformant cells and non transformants or non transformant cells.
  • Transformants are the cells or organisms that successfully take up the foreign DNA and express the genes present on it.
  • Non transformants are those cells or organisms which do successfully take foreign DNA and hence do not express the genes present on it.
Hope this information will clear your doubts about the cloning vectors, transformants and non transformants.
