Shoot apical meristem occupy distant most region of stem axis. What does this statement mean?

Dear Student, Apical meristem is the region from where root apical meriaten and shoot apical meristem grows. Shoot apical meristem grows into long stems away from the axis and some cells are left behind which forms axillary buds from where leaves and flower grows. Thank You!
