A candle is an ignitible wick fixed in wax or any other flammable solid substance that provides light or fragrance. It can also be used to provide heat, or used as a method of keeping time.For a candle to burn, a heat source  is used to light the candle's wick, which melts and vaporizes a small amount of wax. As the mass of solid fuel is melted and consumed, the candle becomes shorter. Portions of the wick that are not emitting vaporized fuel are consumed in the flame.
