short note on narmada and kavei water dispute

Water today has become a source of conflict 

a. Excessive use of water,over exploitation of water resources, unequal access to water to different groups 

b. In case of Cauvery water dispute, Krishnasagar dam in Karnataka  and Mettur dam in Tamil Nadu which is on the same river are used to meet the needs of their respective states.

c. The main point of conflict is that downstream state's that is Tamil Nadu 's  objection to pollution, excessive irrigation and not releasing much water by the upper stream state that is Karnataka which  controls the quantity of water flowing to the downstream state. 

d. As a result, both states complaint of not getting enough water to meet their needs.

e. The Central government thus intervened to ensure fair distribution of water.
