1. Show that kg-m/s and N-s represent the same quantity. Which is that quantity?

Dear Student

Unit of linear momentum is kg -m/s  and unit of impulse is N-S

Impulse (I) is defined as the force acting on an object for a very short duration of time.

The Impulse Momentum theorem relates the above two physical quantities and is a fundamental theorem in mechanics.

It simply states that an impulsive force acting on a body tends to change its momentum by some amount.
So we have

I  = change in momentum = dp

I = F.t

F.t  = dp
N.s = Kg- m/s.

So both units represent impulse.
