SIR I AM HAVING DOUBT IN HYDRATES FORMATION
SYNTHETIC RESINS
IN PREPARATION - ELECTROLYSIS THING

Dear Student,

Hydrate formation: Many of the ionic compounds are formed from water containing one or more ions by crystallisation process and are classified into three segments namely,
a) coordinated water :- [Cr(H2O)6]3+3Cl-  etc..,
b) interstitial water :- BaCl2.2H2O etc..,
c) H-bonded water :- [Cu(H2O)4]2+SO42-.H2O in CUSO4.5H2O
The schematic representation of the cement hydrate formation is shown below,

Synthetic resins are used in treatment of hard water most commonly ground waters from borewell, synthetic resins are of two types namely cation and anion resins which are used parallel to remove permanent hard water substitutes namely Mg and Ca.
Cation resin performs H+ ion exchange with hard water cations namely Ca2+ and Mg2+
Anion resin performs OH- ion exchange with Cl- and SO42-

These resin ion exchange helps in softening of hard waters.

Regards.
