'SO2 is an air pollutant released during burning of fossil fuels & from automobile exhaust'.
- Write the names of elements present in this gas.
- What is the valency of sulphur in SO2 & SO3.
- FInd out the no: of molecules in 5 moles of SO2.
- Calculate the no : of moles in 320 g of SO2 gas
- Calculate the molarmass of 10 moles of sodium sulphite.
(with Explanation please)
1. Elements present in SO2 gas are: S- Sulphur
O - Oxygen
2. Valency of S in SO2: +4
Valency of S in SO3: +6
3. Number of molecules in 5 moles of SO2:
1 mole of SO2 contains = 6.023*1023
5 moles of SO2 contains = 5 * 6.023*1023 = 30.115*1023 molecules
4. Number of moles in 320 g of SO2 :
64g SO2 makes = 1 mole
320 g SO2 will make = 320 / 64 = 5 moles
5. Molar mass of 10 moles of sodium sulphite:
Molar mass of 1 mole of sodium sulphite = 126 g
Molar mass of 10 mole of sodium sulphite = 126 g * 10 = 1260 g
