Afferent arteriole is the blood vessel bringing blood into the glomerulus of a nephron,while efferent arteriole carries the blood away from the glomerulus. The diameter of afferent arteriole and its capillaries is more than the diameter of efferent arteriole and its capillaries to regulate the pressure of blood entering and leaving the glomerulus for effective filtration. Large afferent arteriole conveys blood at a high pressure to the glomerular capillaries while smaller diameter of efferent arteriole helps in maintaining the pressure inside the glomerulus by restricting the outflow of blood.
