31. Light of wavelength 600 nm falls normally on a slit of width 1.2  μ m producing Fraunhoffer diffraction pattern on a screen. 
Calculate the angular position of the first minimum and the angular width of the central maximum.

Here from the given data the angular width of the central maximum is ,
θf=λd=600×10-91·2×10-6=0·5 
Again the angular position of the first minimum is ,
θ1=sin-1mλd=sin-1λd=sin-10·5=30°
