solve Q 22 ans. 4 plz dont give link (tube of uniform cross- section). At what distance from NO gas end , Brown fumes will be seen. Q.20 At 200C two balloons of equal volume and porosity are filled to a pressure of 2 atm, one with 14 kg N2 & other with I kg H2 . The N2 balloon leaks to a pressure of — atm in one hour. How long will it take for H2 balloon to leaks to a pressure of — atm. Q.21 pure 02 diffuses through an aperture in 224 sec, whereas mixture of 02 and another gas containing 75 % O Takes 336 sec to effuse out same volume What is molecular weight of the gas? Q.22 Find the number of diffusion steps required to separate the isotopic mixture initially containing some amount of H2 gas and I mol of gas in a container of 3 lit capacity maintained at 24.6 atm & 27 oc to the final mass ratio equal to — . 4 APPLICA TION OF CONCEPT OF GASOUS STA TE Q.23 If in below diagram after opening valve, final pressure is — MPa, than calculate Pl (in MPa) PtMPa 02(g) 21,300K 2MPa 02(g) 0.41,300K

Dear Student,

Given in the question : Ratio of final masses of deutrium and hydrogen  = 1: 4 respectively.

According to the Graham diffusion law
                                                          rH2rD2= MwD2MwH2
                                                            rH2/rD2= 2              = 1.414

Now, the Total number of moles of D2 and H2
                                               n= PVRT  =24.6×30.08205×300  = 3 mol
So, the initial concentration of hydrogen = 3 - 1 = 2 mol or 4 g
So, the initial concentration of hydrogen = 2/3 = 0.67

Final concentration of Hydrogen = 4/5 x 4/3 = 16/15 = 1.0667
Now, as we can calculate the relation between the final purity to the initial purity by the number of steps of diffusion by the formula :
                        (final purity)= (initial purity) x (separation)n[where n = number of steps ]              1.067 = 0.67 ×(1.414)n            1.414n = 1.067/0.67 = 1.592 So, taking both side log we get,         n ln(1.414) = ln(1.592)                n = ln(1.592)ln(1.414)= 2 times

So 2 steps required to separate the solution.

Regards.
