Solve the following equation.

(i)   4(x+12) = 8
   ⇒ 4*x + 4*12 = 8
   ⇒ 4x + 48 = 8
   ⇒ 4x = 8-48
   ⇒ 4x = -40
   ⇒ x = -40 / 4 = -10
   ⇒ x = -10

(ii) 3y + 4 = 5y - 6
   ⇒ 3y - 5y = -6 -4
   ⇒ -2y = -10
   ⇒ y = -10/-2 = 5
   ⇒ y = 5
