Solve the following systems of simultaneous linear equations

(i) x + y -5=0 , 2x - y= - 2 (ii) 2x = 5y + 4 , 3x 2y = -16

1) The given system of linear equations are;
x+y-5 = 0 x+y = 5 ...(i)2x-y = -2 ...(ii)
Multiplying (i) by 2 and then subtracting (ii) from (i) we get;
2x+y-2x-y=10--22x+2y-2x+y = 123y = 12y = 4Putting the value of y in (i) we get;x = 5-4 = 1
2) The given system of linear equations are;
2x = 5y+42x-5y = 4 ...(i)considering the second equation as;3x+2y = -16...(ii)
Multiplying (i) by 3 and (ii) by 2 and then subtracting (ii) from (i) we get;
32x-5y-23x+2y = 12--326x-15y-6x-4y = 44-19y = 44y = -4419Putting the value of y in (i) we get;2x-5×-4419 = 42x+22019 = 42x = 4-220192x = 76-22019 = -14419x = -14419×2 = -7219
