Solve this:
A gaseous mixture was prepared by taking equal moles of N2 and O2 at room temperature. If total pressure of the gaseous mixture was found to be 1 atm, then partial pressure of nitrogen (N2) in the gaseous mixture is :
(1) 0.6 atm                          (2) 1 atm
(3) 0.5 atm                          (4) 0.9 atm

dear student.. Ans. is 0.5 , because the mole fraction is same due to same NO. of moles and the pressures in pure state is also same due to same temperature and amount. according to roults law... partial pressure =pressure of pure state × mol fraction I hope this information will help you to clear your doubt.
