finally the negative plate of capacitor become positive charge  
initial charge on capacitor plate= q=-CV
final charge=q=+CV total charge flown = 2q=2CV \
work done by battery= q(V) where q= total charge flown through battery 
so  W= 2CV*V= 2CV2

as there is no change in the energy of capacitor so the total work done by battery is released in the form of heat energy
