Q. Increase in blood volume and blood pressure stimulates certain specific cells of cardiac atria to secrete a peptide hormone called
(1) Renin
(2) ANF
(3) Aldosterone
(4) Angiotensin

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

ANF (Atrial Natriuretic Factor) is a peptide hormone produced by the right atrium of the heart in most mammals. It is an important component of circulatory regulation.

When there is an increase in the blood flow (volume) and blood pressure to the atria of the heart, the release of  ANF (atrial natriuretic factor) is caused. Its release causes vasodilation and a decrease in the blood pressure. Thus, it works oppositely to renin-angiotensin mechanism by inhibiting the release of renin.

Hence, option (2) is correct.
