Q. The velocity versus time graph for a particle is shown in figure. The correct statement regarding its motion is

(1) The particle is undergoing uniform motion
(2) The acceleration of particle is zero at t = 3 s.
(3) The velocity of particle at t = 5 s is zero
(4) The acceleration of the particle is zero at t = 6 s.

Dear Student,

From the graph it can be seen that the velocity changes with time hence, the particle is not undergoing uniform motion. Ans is not (1)
At t=3 s, the velocity is zer, but the acceleration which is the slope of the curve at t=3s is not zero but vf - vitf -ti=4 - (-4)4 - 2=82=4m/s2. Ans is not (2)
At t=5 s, the velocity of the particle is 4m/s and not 0. Ans is not (3)

At t = 6s, the slope of the tangent at t = 6s of the velocity time graph is 0. Hence, ans is (4)
