SOUND IS A TRANSVERS WAVE. TRUE OR FALSE. PLEASE EXPLAIN

rn

ALSO PLEASE EXPLAIN TRANSVERSE WAVE AND LONGITUTIDNAL WAVE WITH DIAGRAMS AND EXAMPLES

Sound is a longitudinal wave because when it passes through the air,the layers of air  i.e molecules of air layers vibrate back and forth in the same direction in which sound wave travels.

 Longitudinal waves:

A wave in which the particles of the medium vibrate back and forth in the same direction in which the wave is moving is called longitudinal wave. Example: sound waves.

Transverse waves:

A wave in which the particles of the medium vibrate at right angles to the direction, in which the wave is moving, is called transverse wave. Example: Light waves.

sound is a transeverse wave asthe wave travel in the to and fro in directon of propogation ,some example of transeverse wave is waves produced in a slinky.

longitudinal waves are the waves which travell in the perpendicular path in the direction of propogation. example water waves , waves of a string of guitar etc

if you like my answer plz give a thumbs up ...... bye and take care

sound is a longitudnal wave not transeverse wave as particles of the medium through which the sound is transported vibrate parallel to the direction that the sound wave moves.
