Speech on modern youngsters are morally bankrupt

Dear Student,

Youth is a symbol of freshness and innovation, doing away with the old and laying the foundational block for the new. However, even in doing so, it is important to acknowledge the past that has preceded us and to give it due recognition. There are lessons to be learned from the tradition we wish to break away from because how we shape our future depends on what we have learned from the past and assimilated into our present. The modern youngsters seem to be going away from age old traditions and forgetting basic moral values such as being kind, considerate, respectful, compassionate and ethical in their code of conduct. These values and virtues cannot be simply dismissed as tradition, these are the key ingredients to living a good life and also important in shaping the future. If our basic moral values are not sound, we will not be able to progress. Modernity is not the binary opposite of tradition, it is actually a confluence point for what has preceded us and what is to come, hence the modern youth must remember to incorporate these two strands into their way of thinking.
