Spreading poisonous ideas of inequality and communal intolerance is a serious social crime. It divides the society and turns people against each other. It is a major cause of riots and communal hatred. We all must be tolerant and welcoming of different traditions, cultures and people. Despite the presence of distinct Hindu and Muslim communities, there was harmony in Rameswaram.
Kalam’s new science teacher was reformed by Ramanadha’s father of his narrow minded communal views when he made the two boys sit separately in class. Similarly, Kalam’s science teacher invited him home for a meal and eventually his conservative wife served him with her own hands.
