Stars can emit their own light but planets cannot. Why?

Dear student, This happens because Planets Do not have nuclear fusion process so they do not produce their own light. In stars on the other hand in their core, due to nuclear reactions taking place photons are produced which are responsible for the stars producing their own light. Regards
