State reasons for the following:

1.Protists have appendages like cilia or flagella

2.Angiosperms are called so

3. Fish have scales on their body

1. Protists can have flagella, cilia and pseudopodia, Those are all forms of appendages. They are used for locomotion and, in the case of pseudopodia, for engulfing food (endocytosis).

2. Angio means covered and sperma means seed.

So, those which bear covered seeds are called angiosperms.

3.  The main reason that a fish has scales is to provide external protection to its body. They are tough, slippery and hard making them excellent protection for the environments that fish live in. Scales also allow for fish to be flexible. Fish need to move their bodies in a different way to other animals and scales allow them to do this. Fish that don’t have scales often have other defense mechanisms such as a mucous coating or tough leathery skin.
