State the effect of carcinogens on human body. Name the carcinogenic ionizing and non-ionizing radiations. Mention their carcinogenic effect
Dear student
Please refer the solution below for the said query
Carcinogens are the substances that cause cancer. For example, tobacco, alcohol, arsenic, ionising radiation, non ionising radiations etc.
The ionising radiations include the radiations released from radioactive substances like alpha, beta and gamma rays. The non ionising radiations include ultraviolet rays.
They casue cancer either by creating chemical imbalance in cells or by mutation of DNA in a cell . This results in the uncontrolled cell division which in turn results in the formation of tumour/cancer (mass of cells).
Hope this information clears your doubt about the topic.
