State three differences between acids and bases
Dear student,
The differences between acids and bases are as follows:
a) An acid is sour in taste while base is bitter in taste.
b) pH values of acids are less than 7 and pH values of bases are more than 7.
c) Acid turns blue litmus red and bases turns red litmus blue.
d) Example of acid is sulphuric acid and that of base is sodium hydroxide.
e) When acids are dissolved in water they releases hydrogen ion (H+) while bases release hydroxide ion (OH-)when dissolved in water.
f) Acid can be in the form of solid, liquid or gas depending on temperature while bases are little slippery and solid except ammonia which exists as a gas.
Regards
