a, In an effort to increase employment , government recognised right to work and provided for NREGA scheme 2005 , which guarantees 100 days of work .
b. The NREGA act puts the onus on the government to provide employment.
c.Under this scheme, the gram panchayat at the village level, after proper verification of those unemployed and can work, registers households, and issue job cards.
d. In case of failure unemployment allowance is given.
e. You may take up example of Chhatisgarh and Arunachal Pradesh where NREGA , has covered many sectors like rural road construction, irrigation, land development etc and the region has attracted large number of rural population.
f. In Arunachal the scheme has covered 20 districts,in Chhatisgarh it has covered 27 districts
g.There are people in rural households also involved in brick making, water conservation, flood control
h. In Arunachal, there are present 2.14 lakhs of Job cards have been issued whereas in Chhatisgarh, a total of 37.57 lakhs of job cards have been issued
i. It has helped in increasing income of the rural households and has increased the actual workforce
j. In both the regions there has substantial increase in the workforce
k. Besides that the scheme has also generated employment to the SC's and ST's.
