In the first decade of the 20th century, a few years after Anglo - Boer war before his birth, the white-skinned people of south africa. It was the birth apartheid- the harshest in human creation. Now, in the last decade of the 20 century, the system has been overtuned forever, recognising the rights if all people irrespectiveof their color of skin or religion. He remembered the suffering and courage of thousands of patroits who participated in the long struggle out are not there to witness the fruit of their achievement. Created a deep wound in African people it was a reign of oppresion and cruetly. But deep oppressions produced the Oliver Tambos, the Walter Sisulus, Yusuf Dadoos, etc - Men of unparallel courage ,wisdom and generosity. Mandela thinks South Africa's real wealth is her people who are finer, truer than the purest diamonds. His comrade taught him what courage meant. it is not absence of fear but victory over it. Started when he became a young man ,when he joined the African National Congress party it increased first he wanted freedom only for himself ,then he started feeling hunger for freedom of all his people and his country. Both need to be liberated the oppressor is a prisoner of hatred, prejudice and narrow - mindless. The oppressor and the oppressed - both are robbed of their humanity.
