??Tax has been imposed on liquor during the?pandemic?. How will this achieve the budgetary?objective?
Dear Student
In India during this COVID-19 pandemic, in lock down only essential services are working ,government basic source of revenue are closed like railway state buses etc.So for compensating that loss few days back government started sale of liquor which is again a major source of government earning around 20% of government revenue are from the liquor sale.During lock down many states imposed higher tax on liquor sale like Delhi increase 70% tax on liquor sale similarly states like Karnataka , Andhra pradesh they also impose higher tax on liquor. By selling liquor or by increasing tax on liquor state government can increase its revenue. Not completely but upto some limit government will get some revenue even during this lock down by selling liquor.
