Tell me about adjective???

Dear Student,

An adjective is a word that describes the quality, quantity or the state of being of a noun. Example- big, fast, some, yellow, silly etc.
Example: I have a small bag but it can still hold five books.
In this sentence, the word 'small' is an adjective describing the quality of the noun 'bag' and the word 'five' is another adjective describing the quantity of the noun 'books'.

Kinds of adjectives:
1. Adjective of Quality- that which describes the kind or quality of a person or thing
Eg. Subhash is a brilliant student.
2. Adjective of Quantity-that which gives quantity of uncountable nouns
Eg. Can I have some milk?
3. Adjective of Number-that which gives the number of countable nouns
Eg. I do not have six pens.
4. Demonstrative Adjectives-that which points/demonstrates the noun
Eg. That car has been parked by me.
5. Interrogative adjectives-when used with nouns to ask questions
Eg. Whose tie is that?

Adjectives have three forms that are used to denote the degree of comparison. These are- Absolute, Comparative and Superlative.
Eg. I am good at this job. (absolute)
I am better at this job than him. (comparative)
I am the best at this job. (superlative)
