The base and corresponding altitude of a parallelogram are 10 and 12 cms.if the other altitude is 8 cms find the length of other pair of parallel sides.please help me with this question.

Thnx

Let ABCD be the parallelogram.

AM be the altitude corresponding to the base CD and CN be the altitude corresponding to the base AD.

It is given AM = 12 cm, CD = 10 cm and CN = 8 cm.

We know that area of parallelogram = base × corresponding height

∴ area of parallelogram ABCD = CD × AM

 = (10 × 12) cm2  ...(1)

Also, area of parallelogram ABCD = AD × CN

 = AD × 8 cm2  ...(2)

Equating (1) and (2)

10 × 12 = AD × 8

Hence, length of the other pair of parallel side is 15 cm.
