The boiling point of CH4 is much lower as compared to that of NH3 , H2O and HF. explain.

Hi,

Methane does not undergo hydrogen bonding unlike ammonia, water and hydrofluoric acid. And hence it has lower boiling point than these.

CH4 has less BP as it is a covalent bond(mutual sharing of electrons) where there is a less attraction force

so when compared with NH, H2O and HF compounds, which r ionic bonds, CH4 has low BP.

hope u got it......:))
