Given, Length of the room, l = 12 m.

Let the breadth and height of the room be b m and h m respectively.

Area of the floor = l × b = 12 m × b m = 12b m2

Cost of matting the floor = Rs 0.85 / m2

∴ Total cost of matting the floor = Rs 0.85 × 12b

⇒ Rs 0.85 × 12b = Rs 91.80 (Given)

⇒ b = 9

Breadth of the room = 9 m

Area of walls of the room = 2h (l + b) = 2h (12 m + 9 m) = 42 h m2

Cost of preparing the walls = Rs 1.35 / m2

∴ Total cost of preparing the walls = Rs 1.35 × 42 h

⇒ Rs 1.35 × 42 h = Rs 340.20

⇒ h = 6

∴ Height of the room is 6 m.

cost of papering the wall per sq m = 1.35
cost of papering the wall of area 42y = 340.20
42y *1.35 = 340.20
42y = 252
y = 252/42
=6
therfore the height of the room is 6m
