i) The element X has 4 electrons in the valence shell, so the formula of the compound will be XF4
ii)The compound is a covalent compound, as all the valence electrons, are involved in bond formation. The four valence electrons of X and each electron of fluorine is involved in forming chemical bonds that involves sharing a pair of electrons and hence the nature of bonding is covalent .
