The difference between agricultural labourers and big farmers shows inequality between them. Give reason to support this statement. Suggest a few ways in which you can solve this problem of inequality.

Dear Student,
Agricultural labourers are the ones who work in agricultural fields of big farmers to earn their livelihood. They are mainly landless and poor. Big farmers are those who are engaged in farming on their land and are usually wealthy. The size of their land is more than 3 hectares. Big farmers are the ones who usually do not work on the farms. They employ agricultural labourers on their lands for cultivation of crops.
The inequality can be reduced in the following ways :
  • government investing in agriculture
  • land ceiling and land redistribution
  • engaging agricultural labourers into non-farm activities like dairy processing, apiculture etc.
  • providing landless labourers access to credit through banks
  • organising agricultural labourers into Self help groups(SHGs) or farmer organisations to help them negotiate better for their needs
Regards,
