  • Let us assume x , here Telephone bill  - Electricity bill  = 800 
  • 16x - 6x = 800 , 
  • 10x = 800
  •  hence , x = 800/10 , x = 80
  • 16 * 80  =  Rs. 1,280 was paid as Telephone Bill
  • 6 * 80 = Rs. 480 was paid as Electricity Bill

let the electricity bill = rs.x

so,the telephone bill will be  rs. x+800

ratio of electricity bill: telephone bill =6:16

hence we can also say that 6/16 = x / x+ 800

therefore...16 x = 6(x+800)

16 x = 6x + 4800

16x-6x=4800

10x=4800

hence.,x= 4800/10

x=480

as x =480,electricity bill = rs480

As we know,

telephone bill is 800 more than electricity bill

telephone bill=rs 480 + rs.800=1280

hence electricity bill=rs.480  and  telephone bill=rs. 1280=ANS.............
