The story ends at a note where the Happy Prince's heart and the deal swallow reach God's kingdom. Their sacrifices on earth were not noticed by God was kind enough to acknowledge their selflessly giving nature. Thus, it can be said that the Happy Prince and the swallow got rewarded to some extent in the end by getting a place in God's world.
