The error in the measurement of the radius of a sphereis 0.6%, How to calculate the permissible error in the measurement of surface area

You will find the concept here.

Total surface area = 4πR²

Error in radius: ΔR:  (0.6/100) R

So, error in R² = 2 ΔR = 1.2 % of R.

As 4π is a constant with no error, and errors are additive in case of multiplication, the only error would be because of error in R².
