So, modal marks=L+(fm-f12fm-f1-f2)×h where L= Lower limit of the modal class=40fm=Frequency of modal class=16f1=Frequency of the class interval just preceeding the modal class=12f2=Frequency of the class just succeeding the modal class=15h=class size=10So, required modal marks=40+{16-12(2×16)-12-15}×10=40+8=48Regards
