"The great urban centres that lined the shores of Mediterranean were the true bedrock of imperial system". Give the reason.

Dear Student,

a. The ancient Roman empire basically stretched across  Europe, Asia and Africa and therefore has been reffered as the Empire across Three Continents.
b. The empire was in a position to have huge administration and control the vast area, due to the urban centres  that lined in the shores of
of Mediterranean .
c. These urban centres played an important role in generating wealth for the empire.
d. Taxes were raised from them and these  provisional regions were administered by local upper classes.
e. In fact the upper classes constituted the elite in the administration and in the military alike, rising above the position of the senators.
f. This was primarily because of their strong collaboration with the emperor.
