The following is the role played by the Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry in promoting internal trade:
  1. It helps in various activities with regard to transportation of goods such as in the form of registration of goods. 
  2. It ensures that Octroi and other local levies are imposed in a fair and smooth manner.   
  3. It ensures that the structure of sales tax and Value Added tax is harmonised in different states. 
  4. In collaboration with the government it takes up various investment projects in the area of infrastructure.
