It is true the entrance leading to Shahid’s apartment was a journey between two continents. The one continent was the American continent, and the other was Asian continent created by Shahid. Though Shahid had been living in America for many years, he had maintained the Kashmiriyat at his apartment.  

Shahid was immensely fond of life’s all beautiful things, food included. As visitors would approach his door, aroma of rogan josh and haak would greet them. He loved cooking Kashmiri dishes and made them tasty by adding all the spices. He had many friends and relatives who would visit him and hold get-togethers, parties, etc.  

Thus, entering Shahid’s apartment was like travelling from America to Kashmir.
